The implementation of the Capacitating Urban Communities for Peace and Development (CUCPD) for the year 2025 was successfully conducted by the DILG MIMAROPA in the city of Puerto Princesa on June 26-27, 2025.

This year’s implementation focused on the youth and student sector, giving way to their ideals and voices to further improve the City’s initiatives in promoting peace and development. The CUCPD is a platform for convergence and collaboration among all stakeholders at the local level aimed at improving the institutional capacity of LGUs to undertake development-oriented and context-sensitive peace-building programs to resolve the prevailing and emerging local issues of the most vulnerable sectors.

Through the activity, the youth and student sector were able to come up with various PPAs that the City LGU can integrate in their local plans to cater to the needs of this vulnerable sector. The City of Puerto Princesa, on the other hand, have committed to adopt the proposed PPAs and integrate them into their existing local plans.

This way, the CUCPD remains an effective platform for LGUs and vulnerable sectors to target prevailing issues in local communities, paving the way towards sustainable peace and good governance.
