The DILG MIMAROPA successfully spearheaded the Financial Administration and Sustainability Training (FAST) under the Regional Institutional Development Support (RIDS) Program on June 4-6 at Madison 101 Hotel, Quezon City, bringing together over 70 key officials from 13 selected LGUs in the region.

DILG MIMAROPA Regional Director Karl Caesar Rimando, CESO III, opened the training emphasizing that, “the realization of good local governance is now more than just a challenge but a shared commitment of our LGUs, the Department, and government agencies.”

The local planning and development coordinators, budget officers, accountants, treasurers, and local economic development and investment promotions officers/SGLG focal persons underwent purposive coaching sessions on the governance area of financial administration and sustainability with a key focus on transparent and accountable utilization of public funds, to wit:

• Status on Local Revenue Growth of MIMAROPA LGUs by DOF-BLGF Financial Analyst III Anton Cirilo

•Strategies on Strengthening Local Revenue Generation and Sustaining Local Revenue Growth by LGOO VI Cidney Pamela Bejasa, MPA, EnP

•Knowledge Exchange Session on Local Revenue Growth by Quezon City Administrator Michael Victor Alimurung, MBA, sharing the city’s best practices

•Refresher on LGU Investment Programming by DOF-BLGF Regional Director Dennis Cunag

•Budgeting and Procurement Strategies for the 20% NTA (Development Projects) by DBM MIMAROPA Chief Budget and Management Specialist Christian Mendoza

•Overview of the Public Financial Management Assessment Tool (PFMAT) by DBM MIMAROPA Supervising Budget and Management Specialist Michael Gedaca

LGU sharers from Carmona City, Cavite and Mariveles, Bataan were also invited to share their innovative strategies and best practices

The training concluded with LGCDD Chief Ma. Teresita Iglesia encouraging the participants, “It is our hope that the knowledge you gained will serve as both a guide and a catalyst—empowering you to transform these learnings into concrete actions that improve local service delivery and sound fiscal management in your respective LGUs.”
