The Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) MIMAROPA met with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) MIMAROPA Regional Office on Thursday, November 7, to seek backing for the establishment of culture-sensitive birthing facilities for Indigenous Peoples (CSIP). This initiative aims to address the rising maternal mortality rate among IP communities.

During the meeting, Dr. Catherine Rose DG Dela Rosa, MPH, head of the Family Health Cluster, presented the CSIP Maternal and Neonatal Care Birthing Facility project to DILG MIMAROPA officials, particularly Regional Director Karl Caesar Rimando, Assistant Regional Director Rey Maranan, LGMED Chief Andrew Gonzalvo, and LGCDD Chief Ma. Teresita Iglesia, as well as the IPs Focal Persons.

Director Rimando expressed his support for the initiative and instructed the focal persons on ways to help promote the project to the concerned LGUs.
