The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) MIMAROPA, through its Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), conducted a series of field activities across the province of Palawan to document success stories under the 2024 Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP), carry out final project inspections, and update the Subaybayan Project Monitoring System.
The activity was led by OIC PDMU Head Engr. Victorino Ibanez, Jr., along with Engr. Jienrich Marckoe Malbog, Engr. John Winfield Lim, Engr. Franz Jay Kampitan, and PEO II Brian Jay Zagala.
In Taytay, the team documented the completion of two Farm-to-Market Road projects in Barangays Cataban and Minapla. These road improvements have significantly eased the transport of agricultural products and improved emergency response. Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation, noting how the new roads have reduced hardships and created more opportunities for economic activity.
In Dumaran, the team inspected the completed construction of a one-unit, one-classroom school building and the installation of solar-powered street lights in Barangay Magsaysay. The new classroom, which served 35-45 students per academic year, has created a more comfortable and conducive environment for learning, while the street lighting project has enhanced road safety and improved community security at night. Residents also shared their gratitude, saying they now feel more secure walking through the barangay even after dark.
Meanwhile, in Roxas, two additional Farm-to-Market Roads were documented in Barangays Jolo and Tinitian. With these roads now completed, residents and tricycle drivers enjoy easier and faster travel to their respective Barangay Halls to conduct transactions and access servicesβespecially now that muddy and impassable conditions are no longer an issue.
Aside from documentation and inspection, Engineers Malbog and Kampitan also worked closely with local government units to update the status of these projects in the Subaybayan System. This ensures that information about the implementation and completion of local infrastructure projects is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to the public.
